Roman Rogowiecki: You found a moment for interview with TV4, congratulation for your debut in "Romeo must die", please, tell, why now, when you are 20, when u are very popular vocalist, you started an actress carrer?

Aaliyah: I've always thinking about actress carrier and I started learn act when I was very young, but music was the most important to me..

RR: Oops, the pic fall down, it's a good sign, right? (I'm not sure if I understand here corrert, sound is a little blurry)

A: Yeah, great. The music was the most important to me, so I decided that first I must get a high position as a vocalist. Lately, I felt that I'm ready to act and then I got a proposition for this role, so I made a break.

RR: How many from yourself is in Trish, the character you play in a movie

A: We are quite similar in many cases, that's why I wanted to play that role. Trish is sweet, but strong girl, she's very very confident and also very independent. I got a conclusion that people who know a vocalist Aaliyah could also accept her in this incarnation, cuz this figure has many features of mine.

RR: Sometimes making a movie is like special terapy, actors could learn something knew about themself. What you learned about yourself on the set?

A: That's true. It's happen because people are trying to do things that they never would do in real life. About Trish, I can be tough like her, but only sometimes. She is strong at the whole time. Thanks to this role I learned to talk what I think. I wasn't like that before. Trish is the one who quickly talks what she thinks in every situation.

RR: Wasn't you scared about the fact that usually music stars don't work out at movie screen, they're usually collapsing as an actors. Wasn't this scearing?

A: I didn't even thought about it. I was working really hard to did good, I didn't think about collapse. I had really positive attitude, I'm always an optimist. When I'm doing something, I'm always ready mentally, I'm playing from my love to acting. When people like what I'm doing, I'm happy, if they're not, I'll try come back with something different.

RR: And what was it working with polish director, Andrzej Bartkowiak? He showed a piece of America by Chinese's eyes.

A: I really love Andrzej, I adore him, work with him was a great thing! He has so many sensitivity. Since our first meet, before I even got the role, during trial shooting, Andrzej was very attentive, he let me be me. I'm just waiting to work with him again, he is very sweet.

RR: Thank you, ... (I don't understand words here). In music videos, on albums cover and of course now, you always have fantastic clothes, you were a model for Tommy Hilfiger, how you looking at fashion, what clothes Aaliyah wear?

A: Yes, I was working for Tommy one year, and I like fashionable clothes, but fashion don't rule me. If like something, I take it and I make it an Aaliyah outfit. I think I'm a person who creates a fashion and shows new trends. I'm wearing things that I like. It doesn't mean that I always wear an expensive clothes. In a plane you can see me in slippers and pyjamas. I like stylish clothes, but they aren't the most important to me.

RR: And who are your favourite designers?

A: I love D&G, and Roberto Cavalli, he is fantastic, his clothes are perfectly for me. You know, I have some favorites.

RR: It's over 4 years since your last album, "One in a million", you decided to show a new album, but why you gave up from singing?

A: Music is very important to me and I just finish my new album, I'm very satisfied from the whole material. Now I'm working very hard.

RR: There are 4 your new songs on "Romeo Must Die" soundtrack. How important is music for this movie?

A: It's very important. Usually the music is indispensable part of every movie. We cared to to match the right soundtrack. First we watched the movie and later we added the songs.

RR: How do you fell when you get the MTV award for video "Try again"?

A: That was a wonderful feeling, something amazing! It's a hard work to pleased your fans and get the attention from music industry. I had no words to descripe my happiness.

RR: How do you feel about still bigger number of hip-hop vocalists, don't you sceared about competitors?

A: No, I'm competing only with myself, with Aaliyah. I like a lot of new performers, I think that industry has a lot place for everybody. I always work about myself to be better, so I don't feel like I compete with somebody.

RR: Lately you started to write texts for songs, how you manage with this?

A: Yes, I'm trying myself as a text writer. I work with my brother, first we're listening to music and then we're writing words. It just works, I can't explane it.

RR: Did I say that I really like to hear you singing "Try Again"?

A: Oh no, please!

RR: Please, try!

A: Okey .......................
